Hello and thank you for getting to know our adoptive family.  We are a family of three now – Mary (stay-at-home mom), Mike (information scientist dad), and Edgar (future big brother). 

Mike and I sat in the same row in my freshman English class in college, and we didn’t see each other again until about a year later when a friend introduced us.  We instantly felt a connection like we had met before, and we’ve been together ever since.  We went to the movies on our first date, and we’ve been happily married for eleven years. 

We want you to know that our previous experience with adoption has been wonderful – it made us the family we are today, and we are excited about adopting again.  We both love Edgar so much, and we feel like the luckiest couple in the world. 

Mike is friendly, easygoing, optimistic, and considerate.  Mike describes me as thoughtful, warm, cheerful, and a good listener.  Edgar is a happy, energetic, friendly little boy.  Like us, he enjoys a good laugh and spending time with family and friends.  

Mike and I enjoy parenting together, and family time is important to us.  Since Mike works close to home and I stay-at-home, we have lots of time for simple everyday things like cooking and eating meals together, going for walks, playing ball in the yard, and reading.  We share our faith – we are Catholic, we are thankful for the blessing that is our family, and we go to mass together on Sunday. 

Our families live within an hour, and we visit regularly.  My mother lives two miles away and joins us often for the afternoon or dinner.  Our closest friends are friends we’ve known since childhood.  Both our families and friends are hopeful and supportive of our plans to adopt. 

We also value education.  As a married couple, we supported each other’s decision to return to school and change careers.  We will encourage all our children to follow their dreams and reach their goals, too.

Our home is in a family friendly, suburban neighborhood with a large yard for games, parties, and running.  Parks, hiking areas, farms, and other great places are a short walk or drive from home.  We like going to the beach, making day trips to New York City, exploring new places, and visiting museums. 

Mike works nearby, so we eat breakfast and dinner together everyday as a family.  We’ve decided that I will stay-at-home with our children and return to teaching later (with summers off), and it’s one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.  Each day brings a new adventure, and Edgar and I are fortunate to have this special time together.  Over the years, we’ve made friends with other neighborhood stay-at-home moms and their children.  We meet them often for fun activities like going to the park or splashing around under the sprinkler.

Adoption is a loving choice, and we want you to feel secure with our family and your adoption plan.  We hope that our positive experience with adoption brings you peace and comfort.  We are looking forward to meeting you and getting to know you, and we will gladly update you with letters and pictures if you wish.

We are ready for the new baby to arrive.  I love being a stay-at-home mom, and I am looking forward to caring for another child.  Mike is a terrific dad and provider, and he will continue to support our family both at work and at home.  As parents, we are confident that Edgar will be a wonderful big brother.  All three of us are waiting with open hearts and open arms to welcome a new family member into our lives.
